Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Location: Shenzhen China                                             Reporting to: QC Manager

Travel: Frequent travel for supplier visit required

Job Expectation

·         The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is mainly focus on the key appliance supplier (like TV, fan, torch, radio, refrigerator etc.) quality assurance.

·         The SQE works with Sourcing Engineer, Process Engineer, Product Development, DQA/QC teams to audit, qualify the potential d.light suppliers, responsible for the whole process of new appliances introduction. Ensure appliances quality through working with supplier’s quality and manufacturing team on advanced process/product quality planning. Be able to work with supplier effectively identify the root cause of the defect through solid systematic approach and then ensure the corrective action in place. Be able to influence Suppliers to continuously improve performance of appliance quality (increase lifecycle, reduce scrap, improve processes capability) by implementing process controls and develop quality assurance plans by themselves.

·         SQE tracks data, identifies improvement projects, and manages cross-functional implementation to improve performance of suppliers.

·         This position requires strong communication skill, problem solving skill and strong engineering background, leadership skills that would enable the SQE to drive major quality improvement projects across functions. English skill is nice to have, experience and knowledge on the appliance: Electrical and Mechanical.

Position Description 

1. Perform audit thoroughly with Engineering and sourcing team for new supplier, follow-up improvements on audit findings, periodic process surveillance is required for approved supplier.

2. Follow up supplier sample testing and approval according to engineering spec/requirement.

3. Work with supplier to proactively identify the potential issues (FMEA) and take actions (Error proofing) to avoid defect occurrence and escape.

4. Drive continuous improvement at Suppliers to help them reduce variability in process, manage process change from supplier.

5. Supplier quality issue and CM appliance quality issue analysis and solving, follow up the corrective action and verify the action effectiveness and implementation status.

6. Develop positive relationships and effective lines of communication with suppliers: Partnershiporiented arrangements.

7. Lead a monthly meeting to present the “Supplier Quality performance” to supervisor.

8. Work out appliance test plan and train CM/inspector, align test fixture/method with CM and supplier to avoid any misalignment/ misjudgement before MP.

Qualifications

·         BS Engineering Degree (prefer major in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) 

·         Five (5+) Years quality engineering experience in a manufacturing company 

·         Familiar with TV, fan, torch, radio, refrigerator manufacturing process, test and troubleshooting is a plus, experience in component supplier qualification. 

·         Advanced knowledge of quality related tools including, but not limited to, SPC, APQP, DOE, PPAP, ISO 9001, MSA. 

·         Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, good report making skill with excel, PPT and related photographic. 

·         Exceptional skills in problem solving and good communication with other departments and suppliers. 

·         Must be a critical thinker with clear and logical mind, active listener with good time management skills in order to work with Suppliers and Project Management teams to define deliverables 

·         Good work attitude and responsibility, “can do” mindset is must. 

·         Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn about new processes with very little information provided 

·         Lean Six Sigma training (certified six sigma BB preferred) 

·         Fluent oral and written communication in English and Mandarin.
