POSITION SUMMARY
To identify, design and qualify new materials and components to meet Wurth Electronics Midcom and customer specifications. Provide on-going support and expertise regarding existing materials, including acting as liaison between Midcom and suppliers to have specifications reviewed and/or revised.. Provide production and technical support to the rest of the company with respect to components.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
? Researches and develops all assigned component materials, and is involved in evaluating and creating specifications for them. The Component Designer also works with the Supply Chain Department to create and maintain the integrity of the Approved Supplier List, and works with Quality Assurance personnel on first article inspections and the development of incoming inspection criteria.
? Initiates and processes Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for assigned component materials. The Component Designer also initiates ECOs for assemblies and sub-assemblies affected by assigned component material changes.
? Dispositions Non-Standard Reports (NSRs) for assigned components.
? Expertise in ferrite and laminations steel cores, metal clips and other metal fabrication components and processes.
? Provides component related technical support for all areas of the plant, as needed.
? Works with suppliers for product improvement.
? Works with design and manufacturing engineers and drafter to develop clear, concise prints through the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
? Maintains technical expertise by reading pertinent periodicals and literature.
? Identifies applicable documentation and resource materials needed for in-house referrals. Sets up and maintains system of current catalogs for use in-house.
? May perform special assignments dealing with cost justification, feasibility of special equipment or tooling, or other topics as they arise.
? Work with the routine agency requirements to determine the necessary design and test parameters.

? Work with design, component, development and manufacturing engineers to identify and research specific critical design features for reliability and cost effectivity.

? Maintain communications with other engineers, as well as other departments (Production, Sales, Materials and Product Development) to keep them informed of the status of any tooling, first article, qualification. .
? Writes technical component specifications (with the assistance of other engineers as needed) for use by in-house engineers,customers and vendors.
? Periodically visits vendors to learn more about their advances, capabilities, and research regarding their products.
? Keeps in-house engineers abreast of critical component issues.

REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATIN, EXPEREINCE AND CORE COMPETENCE, ETC):
1. BS in Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years working experience in core field.
2. Candidate must have good communication skill in English.
3. Familiar with Office software and ERP system
