Purpose of role:

To provide Technical leadership in the support and development of Orders, Applications, Products and Services globally for Halifax–Fan. Emphasis shall be placed on ensuring there is structured funded R&D activity at all times. This is a Senior Site position and will require demonstrated Man Management and cross functional leadership knowledge, skills and ability.

Quality, Cost, Delivery & Safety (QCDS) responsibilities

Quality: Minimise Number of Design related errors identified after the cut date

Cost: Minimise average cycle time from MPS scheduling date to Cut date; automate

standard product and reduce design time to <1.5 Hrs

Delivery: Meet R&D project schedules and MPS agreed issue dates (for orders)

Safety: Ensure the process, Tools and Capacities utilised to manufacture a given design, allow for the Job to be completed without compromising safety

Key Requirements and Responsibilities:

Direct functional management of the sites technical staff including Engineers, Draftsman, Industrial Engineering and any other staff as appropriate

Support as a priority, the development of the Halifax-fan product Configurator

Maintain a paperless and global design manual.

Ensure the use of DFMEA, FEA and CFD as appropriate

Maintain a sustainable, documented, development program for the design and or improvement of Products and Services. Confer with stake holders and produce detailed specifications and plans

Ensure adequate Technical rigor is applied during the design phase of all Orders, Applications, Projects or Programs.

Prepare and manage to approved project budgets relating to Engineering Projects (R&D)

Lead and support cross functional development Teams in the UK as well as elsewhere when appropriate, including other Halifax-fan operations.

Address any technical or specification related field or supplier related issues.

Through Leadership and example, ensure an organization wide culture of tactical commitment to achieving the schedule and zero tolerance for Quality defects.

Through the principles of 5S and Lean, engage all employees in a process that reviews, measures and minimises the Total order fulfilment Cycle Time, and demonstrates a constant improvement in the operational use of Working Capital.

Maintain a no compromise health and safe work environment for all employees.

This is a senior role requiring Cross Functional working skills and Leadership

Participate as fully engaged member of the UK Senior Management Team, and the Halifax-fan Board.

Knowledge, Skill or Ability required

Engineering degree or equivalent preferred

Minimum of 10 years Engineering Management, Product design and development experience.
