About Our Client
My client is a cartel of companies that dominate the diamond, diamond mining, diamond shops, diamond trading and industrial diamond manufacturing sectors. The company is currently active in every category of industrial diamond mining: open-pit, underground, large-scale alluvial, coastal and deep sea. The company operates in more than 25 countries and mining takes place in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Canada.
Job Description
This role will act as the main commercial contact for 3-5 strategic customers on behalf of the company. The VP of Sales is responsible for the commercial relationship between the company and the customers, maintaining a strong relationship and optimising sales opportunities with them.
Key responsibilites include helping strategic customers strenghten their business by acting on a deep understanding of their business and developing growth opportunities. Strategic accounts will encompass large scale, global businesses, operating across the middle and downstream supply chain or the customers that have significant pressence and/or activity in a particular territory and/or specific range of diamonds.
Additionally, the job holder will be responsible for overseeing sales to all customers in the region and responsible for the day-to-day management and development of the Key Account Manager reporting in to them.
1.Acts as the main contact for 3-5 strategic customers on behalf of the company, and liaises with the rough diamond customer Sales team ,Auction Sales appropriately to deliver on customer requirements.
2.Fully understands strategic customers and their clients. Understands customer motivations behind decisions, and can provide this insight to the organisation.
3.Cultivates and maintains relationships and keeps abreast of satisfaction levels.
4.Responsible for delivery of an internal account plan (1-yr and 3-yr outlook) with specific goals and objectives relating to optimisation opportunities.
5.Engages with rough diamond customer decision-makers onsite to develop the company's understanding of polished and rough trends, stocks.
6.Manages KAM for GC market and liaises with broader sales team to service customers HQ’d in other regions but with operations in the relevant territory.
The Successful Applicant
Expert in-market knowledge of jewellery retail and requirements; understanding of demand fluctuations for different types of polished from the midstream segment.
Preferably a relevant Business, Finance or Marketing related degree or equivalent experience as identified by Management.
Extensive account management experience.
Track record of creating and growing longer-term commercial partnerships.
Experience in relevant territory.
Experience in developing and leveraging sustainable business networks.
Commercial acumen and financial analysis skills.
Excellent business partnering and consulting skills.
Ability to communicate in the local language essential.
