Key areas of accountability:

General responsibilities:

? to calculate and cost estimate for his component area

? To be the interface in an RFQ between engineering/purchasing in order to achieve a cost / design optimal cost.

? Understand product designs/specs, manufacturing process in order to understand cost drivers and impact on cost models.

? build-up and maintain a cost model for his component area’s

? develop cost tool which allows engineering to compare technical choices

? To work closely together with the commodity manager in order to understand the long term cost impact and to review the product spec/manufacturing strategy on the long term.

? To be an advisor towards an optimal product design in an interface between the RFQ-leader/business and the CRS.

? to be driver to maintain a high level of standardisation for his components

? to be manage for his area the key knowledge information in a structured way  

? Support purchasing into analysing purchase prices in order to reach the optimum price level

? Ensure on time delivery of the cost calculation towards the Business case and RFQ leader

? Define the moulding parameters, tonnage, cycle time, downtime, change over times, …..

? Scrap rates/losses for various process methods

Specific:

? Knowledge in metal processing technologies: various metal forming and stamping processes (single,progressive,extrusions ,deepdraw,etc.)

? Scrap rates for various processes 

? Experience in material losses due to the manufacturing technology

? Optimised cuttings per sheet, rolls,meters.

? Optimised wall thickness process related.

? Experience in secondary machining processes (cnc cutting, tapping, milling etc.)

? Surface treatment and plating processes related to the materials

? Experience in metal raw material types, constitution, properties, availability.

? Base understanding of CAD models, 2D-3D drawings, wall thicknesses - geometry 

? Good in experience surface tolerances versus manufacturing technology

Job scope:

Product cost expert working as an expert to calculate and estimate cost prices and to achieve a cost/design optimal cost 

Work with people across the organisation (commodity managers, purchasers, development engineers, project managers, Business case/RFQ leader)
